SEA, MARU, TIDE AND THE ISLAND THAT IS NOT
In a distant village, young Maru is sent by the Council of Elders to investigate a mystery: the inexplicable appearance of a large number of dead sea animals on the beaches of the region. After a long journey, Maru discovers a huge island of plastic waste in the high seas inhabited by strange beings born from the garbage itself. When he returns and tells what he saw, the Council of Elders does not believe his story, leading Maru to be called a liar by the adults of the village. Only the children believe his story. Maru then decides to join his young friends and travel the world to tell the story of this strange island, using the objects and waste found in the sea.

OTHER INFORMATION
The play addresses the dramatic environmental situation of the seas in an allegorical way through a playful and immersive experience, raising awareness among children about this reality, in order to promote reflection and awaken them to actions that make the world more sustainable. To this end, the show uses the language of Animation Theater and Storytelling, with four actors on stage plus a musician who performs, live, the songs from the show's original soundtrack.
Through this production, Grupo XPTO intends to introduce children to an ecological adventure, providing a closer and more sensorial perception of the agonizing world that is degraded daily by man's disregard for the environment. The production addresses the issue of plastic waste using the waste itself discarded by consumer society, in all its materiality.
