OROBORO
On the imminence of his death, a shipwrecked sailor is faced with the dilemma of letting himself be devoured by vultures or of throwing himself into the sea. Confronting the fatality reserved to him by destiny, he chooses the path of the unknown, diving into the waters of the ocean. In a close island a huge snake lays a
strange egg that arouses the curiosity and the ambition of the inhabitants the place. Curiosity, covetousness, anger, interdictions, power struggles, revolt, annihilation. These are some of the themes that will be presented in a symbolic way by the play
Oroboro, a parable about the cyclical character of existence - life / death / life.

OTHER INFORMATION
The play unfolds as a fable in which real-world characters are subjected to the action of mythological entities and also the intervention of the artist (actor-manipulator) that will have the function of altering the direction of history This performance uses the language of Puppet Theatre and Animated Forms. The narrative is developed without the use of words, being conducted both by live music and by the action of the
actors who manipulate the puppets and objects, emitting guttural sounds that function as the voices of the characters.
We choose to use non-verbal language to allow for a universal reading of the work that does not depend on languages and borders. The characters, made with non-conventional materials, reference known beings without the need to be credible. This
premise makes the play a fertile ground open to imagination.
The play has four actors who manipulate characters from organic materials such as gourds, branches and tree trunks; and also objects of indigenous or industrialized craftsmanship. There are various manipulation techniques such as glove dolls, "marotte", direct manipulation, rod and mixed techniques. The original musical score, performed live by the play’s musical director Beto Firmino, was composed using a guitar and voice base, with additional sounds, either live or sampled, derived from the
manipulation of the various materials used in the play. The direction of the play, as well as the creation of scenography and the puppets is in charge of Osvaldo Gabrieli, artistic director of the XPTO Group.
